HISTORIE/DOCUMENTATIE
Het betreft hier een schitterend exemplaar van een icoon in opkomst: de Alfa Romeo 164 QV 3.0-liter V6. Dit exemplaar is nieuw geleverd op 27 juni 1991 door de Alfa Romeo dealer in Thalwil, Zwitserland. Dit land staat bekend om maniakaal onderhouden en verzorgde auto's en bij deze Alfa is dat geen uitzondering, want de auto is nagenoeg elk jaar onderhouden bij dezelfde dealer in Thalwil tot en met 2010. Dat is een periode van bijna 20 jaar. Ook daarna is de auto goed onderhouden en in 2017 is hij vanuit Zwitserland geïmporteerd naar Nederland. Bijzonder is de schat aan documentatie die bij de auto zorgvuldig bewaard is gebleven: de originele instructie-, aflever- en serviceboekjes, handleidingen en originele boekjes van de Alpine radio en het instructieboekje uit 1995 van de Zender 17" lichtmetalen velgen, die speciaal voor Alfa Romeo zijn vervaardigd. Ook onderhoudsfacturen, registratieformulieren, APK-formulieren en een taxatierapport zijn bij de auto aanwezig. Het mag duidelijk zijn dat de eigenaren allen zorgvuldig zijn omgegaan met de auto en diens toebehoren. De auto is het meest recent afkomstig uit de collectie van een verzamelaar.
EXTERIEUR
Het schitterende ontwerp van de 164 kwam van de hand van Pininfarina. Dit exemplaar is fraai uitgevoerd in een two-tone van zwart lakwerk en grijze bumpers en sideskirts. Het lakwerk verkeert in zeer goede staat, evenals ruiten, chroomwerk, rubbers en verlichting. De Alfa is door middel van andere veren licht verlaagd, zodat de auto met zijn fraaie lijnenspel beter tot zijn recht komt. De fraaie 17" Zender velgen verkeren in zeer goede, onbeschadigde staat en zijn voorzijn van Pirelli P-Zero banden. De koplampen zijn voorzien van een koplampreinigingsinstallatie. De mistlampen aan de voorzijde zijn uitgevoerde in de kenmerkende gele kleur. In het taxatierapport wordt de auto omschreven als een buitengewoon goede, originele en ongerestaureerde staat.
INTERIEUR
Ook het zwart lederen interieur verkeert in een originele en goede staat zonder beschadigingen. Het interieur is afgewerkt met grijze stoffering en fraaie rode stiksels. Optioneel en origineel geleverd zijn de Recaro sportstoelen. De voorstoelen zijn bovendien voorzien van stoelverwarming, elektrisch bedienbare verstelling en geheugenfunctie aan de bestuurderszijde. Voor die tijd vooruitstrevende opties, en de optielijst gaat door: climate control met goed functionerende airco, een sport-knop, centrale deurvergrendeling en elektrisch bedienbare ramen voor en achter. Ook is een Kenwood radio/cd-speler met MP3 functie geïnstalleerd. De middenconsole beschikt over een indrukwekkend aantal schakelaars. Ook de kofferbak verkeert in goede staat.
TECHNISCH
Onder de motorkap glimt AR64301 V6-motor tegemoet: de originele 2959 cc watergekoelde motor is voorzien van Bosch brandstofinjectie en biedt maar liefst 198 pk. De motor is voorzien van een onderhoudsarm K&N luchtfilter. De motor loopt mooi en is gekoppeld aan een goed schakelende 5-versnellingsbak. Aan de voorzijde zijn McPherson veerpoten (double wishbone's) gemonteerd en aan de achterzijde draagarmen met schroefveren, een stabilisatorstang en telescoopdempers. De uitlaat is voorzien van een Ansa sportdemper. De koppeling is vernieuwd en de auto is door de jaren heen goed onderhouden.
ALGEMEEN
De Alfa Romeo 164 QV is een van de meest karakteristieke sportieve sedans uit de jaren ’90. Deze auto combineert Italiaanse elegantie met krachtige prestaties en zit vol interessante details. De Alfa 164 werd in 1987 geïntroduceerd en was het resultaat van het zogeheten “Type Four”-platform, een samenwerking tussen meerdere Italiaanse merken. Toch wist Alfa Romeo de auto een geheel eigen uitstraling te geven. Het strakke, aerodynamische design is ontworpen door Pininfarina, wat meteen verklaart waarom de 164 nog steeds als stijlvol wordt gezien. HISTORY/DOCUMENTATION
This is a magnificent example of a rising icon: the Alfa Romeo 164 QV 3.0-litre V6. This car was delivered new on 27 June 1991 by the Alfa Romeo dealer in Thalwil, Switzerland. This country is renowned for its meticulously maintained and well-cared-for cars, and this Alfa is no exception, as the car was serviced almost every year at the same dealer in Thalwil up until 2010. That is a period of nearly 20 years. The car has also been well maintained since then and was imported from Switzerland to the Netherlands in 2017. A particular highlight is the wealth of documentation that has been carefully preserved with the car: the original instruction, delivery and service booklets, manuals and original booklets for the Alpine radio, and the 1995 instruction booklet for the ‘Zender 17’ alloy wheels, which were manufactured specifically for Alfa Romeo. Maintenance invoices, registration forms, MOT forms and a valuation report are also included with the car. It is clear that all the owners have treated the car and its accessories with great care. The car most recently came from a collector’s collection.
EXTERIOR
The stunning design of the 164 was created by Pininfarina. This example is beautifully finished in a two-tone scheme of black paintwork with grey bumpers and side skirts. The paintwork is in very good condition, as are the windows, chrome trim, rubber seals and lighting. The Alfa has been slightly lowered using different springs, allowing the car’s beautiful lines to be shown off to their best advantage. The attractive 17-inch Zender alloy wheels are in very good, undamaged condition and are fitted with Pirelli P-Zero tyres. The headlights are equipped with a headlight cleaning system. The front fog lights are finished in the characteristic yellow colour. The valuation report describes the car as being in an exceptionally good, original and unrestored condition.
INTERIOR
The black leather interior is also in original and good condition with no damage. The interior is finished with grey upholstery and attractive red stitching. The Recaro sports seats are optional and original to the car. The front seats are also fitted with seat heating, electric adjustment and a memory function on the driver’s side. These were progressive options for their time, and the list of extras continues: climate control with a well-functioning air conditioning system, a sport button and a Kenwood radio/CD player with MP3 function. The centre console features an impressive array of switches. The boot is also in good condition.
TECHNICAL
Under the bonnet, the AR64301 V6 engine gleams: the original 2959 cc water-cooled engine is fitted with Bosch fuel injection and delivers a impressive 198 hp. The engine is fitted with a low-maintenance K&N air filter. The engine runs smoothly and is mated to a well-shifting 5-speed gearbox. At the front, McPherson struts (double wishbones) are fitted, and at the rear, there are trailing arms with coil springs, a stabiliser bar and telescopic dampers. The exhaust is fitted with an Ansa sports silencer. The clutch has been replaced and the car has been well maintained over the years.
